Abstract Colour by Yangyang Pan

I'm loving the colours used in these paintings by Yangyang Pan. So so pretty!

(Also, please note my spelling of the word "colour" in honor of my new English heritage.)

3am

I had no plans to watch the royal wedding last night. I actually laughed at people yesterday who asked me if I was getting up or staying up to see it. Then around 10pm last night, Jonny announced that it was part of his heritage and we had to watch it. And not at one the thousands of people's apartments who are recording it and watching it today - we had to watch it live.

Literally, just this week, Jonny was saying how weird it was that everyone was making such a fuss over the royal wedding.

So we stayed up until 3am, and we stayed up a lot longer afterwards, and I'm actually still up now! I did love watching the wedding, and looking at all the outfits and hats and fascinators, and seeing the "chavs" that were waving flags outside.

By the way, look how awesome my mom's hat for the royal wedding was. She woke up and went to a party at 3:30am in Nashville! Amazing!

Now we're off to celebrate a wedding of our real live friends this afternoon. Can't wait!

Coachella v. Bonnaroo

I find it hilarious to compare Coachella with Bonnaroo. Now that I live in San Francisco, Coachella is the big music festival that everyone talks about and goes down to, but when I was growing up in Nashville, it was always Bonnaroo. The lineups at both are really similar, so they both attract people who like the same type of music.

But here's the difference.

This is Coachella:

And this is Bonnaroo:

At Coachella, everyone is very LA and showered and putting on a little fashion show. At Bonnaroo, we were wearing as little as possible without being indecent, and I don't think anyone was really thinking about clothes other than that. I actually only went to Bonnaroo one year, but in that one year, I could tell you without a shadow of a doubt that there was no kind of style like there is at Coachella, and I actually can't imagine planning my outfits for a music festival like this.

Maybe I can't judge until I try both...

Coachella photos compiled by Elise from Style.com. Bonnaroo photos are all from my camera, probably taken by random strangers.

Elephantine

I feel like I've been posting about jewelry a lot lately, but it is near and dear to my heart. I'm pretty sure elephantine has already made its rounds in the blogger world (I mean, A Cup of Jo posted about it I think, and that means like 200 million people already have read about it from her, right?!)

Well, I'm always on the lookout for simple and pretty everyday jewelry, but for some reason I was ignoring elephantine because I thought it was expensive. I don't know where I got that though - everything is really reasonably priced. I think the middle picture, eastern holiday, is my fave. What do you think?

Ferrying across the Bay

I know it's been oh so long since I've touched this blog, and for all 13 of my readers, I'm sorry! The Prices have been in town for the past two weeks, so we've been focusing most of our free time on spending it with them. We had a great visit, and I'll be sharing more pictures soon.

For now, I'll share some pictures from the ferry to Sausalito. One of my favorite things to do with friends from out of town is to take them on a ferry ride across the bay. The ferry boasts of being "the second most beautiful ferry ride in the world" which, for one, is a weird thing to brag about, but also, I don't know what ferry ride is more beautiful. My iPhone photos don't do it justice.

I love that I can walk to work from where we live now, but riding the ferry and seeing people commuting home on it made me think I wouldn't mind a commute if it were a ferry commute!

Loving on Laurence Amelie

I know I'm long overdue for an update, and I have lots of fun pictures to share once I get myself organized (whenever that may be...). For now, I want to share two beautiful paintings from an artist who is completely new to me, Laurence Amelie

I just came across the paintings of Laurence Amelie and I LOVE them! I'm wishing I could read French so I could learn more about her - from what I can tell she hasn't gotten much American press. Can anyone tell me anything else about her?

Royal Wedding

Since Jonny is English, people keep asking me if we're following the Royal wedding. We haven't really gotten into it at all yet (we'll get there before the 29th!), but I have been loving the few things that turn up like this refrigerator and this thank-you plate

One of the coolest things I've seen so far is this wallpaper by Graham and Brown in honor of the royal wedding. It comes with jewels that you can add to the crowns yourself! If you're going to pay hommage to the royal wedding in your home decor, maybe a bathroom with this wallpaper would be more tasteful than the refrigerator option.

Oh, Canada

You may know that I am not the fondest of Canada since that's where my boy has been every Monday through Thursday for the past six months, but I'm going to set my beef with the country aside for a minute to talk about this awesome Canadian jewelry designer, Julia Vallelunga of La Raffinerie

I just came across this, and I'm loving the way she took inspiration from ancient tribal jewelry but built her pieces with silk and satin so that they're totally wearable and not too overly tribal. Here are some favorites, and they're actually very reasonably priced too:

Oh Happy Day

Oh happy weekend, really. It's been so so good to have Jonny back and relaxed and home for good. Per usual, I didn't go around with a camera so the few pictures I have were taken with my iPhone, and they only give a limited picture of how beautiful and fun our weekend was. We spent lots of time outside, lots of time with the top down in the convertible, and lots of time toasting with friends.

{1} Our first champagne of the weekend to celebrate the end of Jonny's case.
{2} Anemonies on my desk at Kiva - I couldn't resist them when we were walking back from lunch in the park. There's just something about sunny days and pretty flowers.
{3} Coconut water that I drank in hopes of recovering from all of the celebrating we did this weekend. No dice.
{4} Just chillin on Sunday night and watching Harry Potter. No rushing to pack, no rushing to the airport. So nice.
{5} Our street in the sunshine.
{6} Loving our relaxing Sunday night.
