Asparagus Ribbon Salad

It's been a week and a half since I've posted, and since I last posted I've been to Birmingham then Nashville and back. I got to see my little brother graduate from college, then got to spend time with old friends at Steeplechase, and I've got to get my pictures together for updates. But for now, dinner...

I made this really yummy ribboned asparagus salad the other day by Smitten Kitchen, and I'm making it again tonight. I don't know how I never knew that you could eat raw asparagus, but I'm glad I know it now. It's so good and tastes so fresh and healthy. Check it. Smitten Kitchen never disappoints!

Happy One Week!

I mentioned that last week we were going to a real wedding in addition to our royal wedding festivities. Our friends Josh and Ashley are getting married in Mexico later this year, but since you're not allowed to officially get married in Mexico, they had their official wedding at City Hall on Friday. We were so honored to be their witnesses. I had never been to city hall before - it was beautiful, Josh and Ashley looked amazing, and it was a very happy day.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that I always forget about but always love.

Today, I've already celebrated by eating a burrito for lunch (not a rare occurrence at all since I work in the Mission, but still!) and by making a loan to Evangelina who is borrowing funds to build a wall in front of her house.

 Tonight, I'm celebrating by making margaritas and sitting on the roof with Jonny, who just finished a big interview today! Then, I'm meeting up with friends to go get dinner and have drinks at the Latin American club, which has always provided endless fun, but also provides too much fun for a week night.

Redwood forest

I haven't posted much about the senior Prices trip to California, and I wanted to share some pictures from our trip up north to the redwoods. John and Margaret wanted to go see the redwoods, so we drove up to Russian River Valley, spent a night in an adorable inn, and spent the next day looking at redwoods and doing a little champagne and wine tasting. I had never been to any of the redwood forests, and it was incredible to see these giants in real life.

 We were right by Korbel when we left the park, so we stopped by so that all of us, especially Margaret, could enjoy some champagne. I like this picture of Jonny and his parents. 

It was such a fun little weekend trip and a holiday from John and Margaret's San Francisco holiday. 

Italia questa estate!

We've had it on the calendar forever, but we booked our flights this morning so it's official - we're going to Italy this summer! Louise and Martin, we can't wait to celebrate your marriage. Thanks for choosing such a splendid location!

Lux and Trip

I was talking with a friend this weekend about wearing more statement jewelry. I've got all of this jewelry that I own and love, but I'm always too tired in the morning to think about working jewelry into my outfits. We both vowed that we would try harder to incorporate great jewelry into our daily lives. 

I know I need to build that habit with what I've got before purchasing new pieces, but I am loving these pieces by Lux + Trip: 

Pretty cool, huh? I love the shapes and the pops of neon, and I would love to see one of them on a model so I can get a better feel for what they'd look like on. Anyone want to buy one and model it for me?!

Oh, also, I bought this blue necklace and I l-o-v-e it!

A weekend of Dwell

I spent all day both Saturday and Sunday in Marin volunteering with Dwell home tours. I've been busy organizing volunteers for the event for the past few weeks, and I was thrilled to have the tours go so smoothly. 

These houses were amazing, and unfortunately I didn't bring a nice camera with me to do the homes any justice. Even worse, I actually only took iPhone pictures at one house, but it did happen to be the coolest house on the tour - the Bridge house! The Bridge house was designed to sit, and almost float, over hilly acres in San Anselmo. The design of the home was so outstanding that even my iPhone photos turned out looking cool.
